Adventure Bar

Every cocktail adds to the story

The founders of Adventure Bar are seeing triple the amount of sales since working with Mystery to design a unique refurbishment to their first bar in London.

We first worked with Mystery a couple of years back on our strategic branding & website - helping us define a unique and compelling positioning in a crowded marketplace. We're over the moon with the results of our latest collaboration on the design of CJ, having seen sales triple from the first week of re-opening.

Tom Kidd, Founder of Adventure Bars

Mystery was first commissioned by Adventure Bar - a vibrant chain of London-based cocktail bars - to help improve sales through strategic branding and interior design.

Starting with a strategic brand positioning exercise, we defined ’Adventure Bar’ as fun brand full of character, where ‘every cocktail adds to the story!’.

A full redesign of the Adventure Bar brand identity, menu and website followed, bringing them in line with the positioning, by creating a series of characters based on the extraordinary names of the cocktails.

A seriously fun re-imagining of their Clapham Junction site is the latest chapter of the story. With cocktail names like ‘Monkey Midget’ and ‘Ziggy Stardust’, the Adventure Bar brand needed an interior design concept with a big personality to match.

Having fully immersed ourselves in the culture of the business and after having researched more than our fair share of mixology, we were struck by an inevitable lightening bolt of inspiration...

Imagine if you will, a Victorian time traveller whose ‘Adventures Through Time’ transported him (or her) to a future in the mid 20th Century. What would this adventurer make of all their space-age surroundings? We imagined it would be all to easy to misunderstand what everyday objects such as record players and hairdryers could be used for.

Combining the notion of ‘Adventures Through Time’ with the expansion of the business premises by taking over the next door unit, we decided give Adventure Bar customers an adventure of their own, by deliberately offering two distinct versions of the future as seen from the past: Victorian Steam-Punk and Mid-Century Retro.

Customers can choose which style suits their mood, or move between the two and explore the space. The result is a fun and surprising culture clash, creating a unique talking point where the Victorian Steam Punk and Mid-Century Retro bars meet.

Adventure Bar now offers a casual food menu during the day and evening, before transforming in to a cocktail venue by night, with additional space offered by incorporating a folding mechanism in to the tables, converting them to drinking rails/shelves at busier times.

The new double sized venue is at maximum capacity every weekend.
